چکیده

Equivalent circuits containing frequency-variable radiation resistances are postulated for small monopole and small loop antennas above a ground plane. The equivalent circuits are valid below the fi rst natural resonance frequency. By adding an external series inductance or a parallel capacitance, the antenna’s Q is evaluated with the use of an invariant form for the refl ection coeffi cient. The antenna’s Q obtained this way accurately predicts the maximum obtainable bandwidth for either a singleor double-tuned matched antenna. At frequencies above the fi rst resonance, the Q is evaluated by approximating the impedance or the refl ection coeffi cient with polynomials within a narrow frequency range.

21 Lens Films and Refl ective Polarization

Light traveling from a medium with a high refractive index to a low refractive index experiences total refl ection when the incident angle exceeds the critical angle. The case of 100% refl ection is called total internal refl ection (TIR), in which case the light is confi ned within the medium having the higher refractive index. This phenomenon is used in optical transmission fi bers and light ...

Influence of an Induction Furnace’s Electric Parameters on Mass Transfer Velocity in the Liquid Phase

Comprehensive analysis of the chemical phenomena taking place in the liquid metal/gaseous phase systems typical for metallurgy requires knowledge of the mass transfer phenomena occurring in both the said phases. This results from the fact that in heterogeneous systems, the components of the individual phases react with one another only after penetrating the interface. The parameter characterisi...

Recovery of Discontinuities in a Nonhomogeneous Medium

The recovery of the coe cient H(x) in the one-dimensional generalized Schrodinger equation d dx2 + kH(x) = Q(x) ; where H(x) is a positive, piecewise continuous function with positive limits H as x! 1; is studied. This equation describes the wave propagation in a one-dimensional nonhomogeneous medium in which the wavespeed 1=H(x) changes abruptly at a nite number of points and a restoring forc...

For the usual st raight·line model, in whic h the independent variable ta kes on a fixed, kno wn se t of va lues, it is shown that the sample corre lation coeffi cie nt is distributed as Q with (n-2) degrees of freedom and noncentralit y O=({3 /CT) V~(Xi X)2. The Q variate has been defin ed and studied e lse· where by Hogben et al. It is noted that the square of the correlation coeffi cient is ...
